Mondays, that other “M” word we enjoy pronouncing with enthusiasm. Why does it seem that Mondays tend to get here much faster than the other days of the week? The worst part about it, it’s not even Monday today, and it just feels like it. No one ever says, hmm, how weird is it today, it feels like Saturday. Mondays have their own little town with a zip code and everything. It has to be the most dreaded day of the week besides Sunday, because Mondays start taking over around six o’clock, right before the sun is about to go down. Mondays are very selfish. Everyone loves Fridays and Saturdays, and given all the attention and love they deserve, wishing they could stay around another day. But look over your shoulder and there is Monday, pushing them out trying to get through. If you ever wondered how Monday came about, well I Googled it and here it is. How did the days of the week get their name? The Naming of the Days. The Greeks named the days week after the sun, the moon and the five known planets, which were in turn named after the gods Ares, Hermes, Zeus, Aphrodite, and Cronus. The Greeks called the days of the week the Theon hemerai "days of the Gods". Monday -- Moon's day Middle English monday or mone(n)day Old English mon(an)dæg "day of the moon" Latin dies lunae "day of the moon" Ancient Greek hemera selenes "day of the moon" Celebrating Presidents Day over the weekend and taking time to honor those past heroes that make America great was very enjoyable. It was definitely an honor to be in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Waking up to Tuesday feeling like Monday, I thought I would just post some pics of what Mondays would look like if it had a face. |
